About Us
As North America’s only producer of natural graphite, Northern Graphite is in a unique and strategic position. Our role extends beyond mere supply; we are at the forefront of powering electric vehicles with essential battery anode materials. It is more than a business for us – it’s about being a key player in the global shift towards electrification.
Northern Graphite’s strategy is to leverage our unique position to become a vertically integrated mine-to-market company meeting the growing needs of the North American and European markets by producing graphite, supplying battery anode material and redefining carbon material solutions for industrial markets.
Pioneering Production
We operate in stable jurisdictions with scalable mines to meet market demand:
- Growing production at our Lac des Iles mine in Quebec to 25,000 tonnes per year
- Enabling near-term production growth from the Okanjande mine in Namibia and the Bissett Creek project in Ontario
Powering Electric Vehicles Supply Chains
We are driving the energy transition:
- Meeting North America’s and Europe’s growing electric vehicle battery needs
- Fueling North America’s battery gigafactory boom
- Plans to build a 200,000 tonnes per year battery anode material plant in Baie-Comeau, Quebec
Master of Innovation
We are taking the lead in crafting carbon materials :
- Creating new materials for the next generation of batteries
- Partnering with industry leaders for downstream integration
- Redefining North America’s carbon materials needs for the industrial sector
First Mover Advantage
We have a first mover advantage:
- Producing Now, Mitigating Risk
- Generating Revenue Now
- Creating a seamless mine-to-market journey
- Ahead of the curve
Our Trajectory
Northern Graphite’s roots date back to 2002 with the acquisition of the Bissett Creek graphite project in Ontario. In April 2022, the Company acquired the Lac des Iles graphite mine in Quebec, which has been producing graphite for over 30 years, providing clients with product used in refractory bricks for steel making, heat management in mobile phones, and friction and lubrication products for brakes and brake linings for the global automobile industry, among many other applications.
Today the Company is on track to become a mine-to-market-to-battery graphite producer and processor, with mining operations and development projects in Canada and Namibia and plans to build what will be one of the world’s largest Battery Anode Material facilities in Baie-Comeau, Quebec, to serve battery markets for electric vehicles in North America and Europe.
